Aims and Objectives

The Shilpi Sansthan is concerned with trying to find avenues for a better life for craftspersons both as part of their larger community and that of the natural environment. Its role is not only that of a catalyst, but also as a beneficiary of the resulting harmonious socio - economic order.

Its experience over the years has naturally steered Shilpi Sansthan towards the following goals:

1. To revive, preserve and support declining indigenous knowledge, resources and skills

2. To update artisanal technologies

3. To create a sustainable source of raw material

4. To act as facilitator in implementing Government of India's schemes directed at crafts and community development

5. To understand the ever changing markets

6. To contribute towards creating a better life for the craftspersons, by understanding the various problems that they face like marketing and know how about product.

Shilpi Sansthan believes that any intervention needs sensitivity towards the community's priorities as well as a pace of growth which is acceptable to it.
